Resumo

O presente trabalho está inserido no âmbito dos estudos em motivação e particularmente dedicado a discutir questões da performance musical. O foco principal deste artigo é caracterizar o que será defendido como uma pesquisa em performance, em distinção à assim designada subárea de ensino e aprendizagem da música. Pretende-se ainda revelar os conceitos fundamentais e teorias que têm figurado na desenvolvida subárea de ensino e aprendizagem. Para a realização deste trabalho foram consultados importantes veículos de divulgação de pesquisas em música no Brasil, como anais de eventos e revistas especializadas. Foram também examinadas dissertações e teses defendidas nos cursos de pós-graduação em música (e equivalentes) nacionais, alem da literatura referencial à respeito da motivação, de áreas como educação, psicologia e música. A hipótese conclusiva sugere que pesquisas em motivação dedicadas à performance musical, nos termos desta pesquisa, podem promover significativos aportes para a pesquisa acadêmica, como a formulação de teorias que expliquem determinados procedimentos vigentes, a criação de ferramentas de trabalho, e a mudanças paradigmáticas que envolvem a performance.

Studies in motivation: The perspective of musical performance

The present article is inserted at the scope of studies in motivation and particularly dedicated to discuss questions about musical performance. The main focus is to characterize what will be defended as a research in performance as opposed to the so-called subarea of learning and teaching music. It is also intended to reveal the fundamental concepts and theories that have been shown in the developed learning and teaching subarea. In order to carry out this paper, important researches on the spreading of music in Brazil, such as conference proceedings and journals, were consulted. Additionally, theses and dissertations defended at national graduate courses in music or so were examined together with reference literature on motivation in education, psychology, and music, for instance. The conclusive hypothesis suggests that researches on motivation dedicated to musical performance, under these research terms, can promote significant contributions to academic research as the formulation of theories that explain determined current procedures, the development of working tools, and the pragmatic changes that involve musical performance.
