Resumo

Este ensaio objetiva trabalhar com a pluralidade de olhares que podem constituir histórias da educação musical, inventariando possíveis temas para futuras investigações colaborativas. Dentre as várias histórias da educação musical no Brasil, podemos localizar: a história das instituições; a história de movimentos pedagógico-musicais, como a história do canto orfeônico no Brasil; a história dos cursos superiores de música no Brasil; a história do ensino de música e sua institucionalização na escola; a história do ensino de música a partir das orquestras e coros; a história da educação musical, analisada por meio dos chamados espaços informais; a história do ensino de música a partir das associações de classe ou, ainda, a história da educação musical a partir dos livros didáticos. Escrever uma história da educação musical é uma tarefa complexa, especialmente do ponto de vista teórico-metodológico. A complexidade da tarefa com a história da educação musical também inclui as ferramentas e técnicas específicas do ofício do historiador, que consideram os documentos como índices do mundo real, incluindo testemunhos orais e fontes de arquivos para articular e construir uma trama histórica.

The various histories of music education in Brazil

The purpose of this paper is to concentrate on the plurality of versions that constitute the histories of music education, while taking an inventory of possible themes for further colaborative investigation. Among the various histories of music education in Brazil are: the history of institutions, the history of pedagogical musical movements such as the history of the singing society in Brazil; the history of undergraduate courses in music; the history of music teaching and how it was institutionalized; the history of music teaching through orchestras and choirs; the history of music education analyzed through informal spaces; the history of music teaching through the creation of associations, or the history of music education through textbooks. Writing a history of music education is a complex task, especially from the theoretical-methodological point of view. The complexity of dealing with a history of music education also includes the tools and techniques of investigation for the historian, who considers documents as a register of the real world, including oral testimonies and sources from archives, to articulate and construct an historical web.
