The role of the acoustic guitar in the city of Teresina (PI): a study with young people from the Federal University of Piauí

The acoustic guitar is a very instrument presente in the music formation of brazilians. Characterized as an urban instrument essentially in the late nineteenth century, is present both in popular parties and concert halls. Besides that, factors such a low cust, easy to carry, harmonic richness, contribute for many brazilians to have the acoustic guitar as the favorite instrument, since this is strongly linked to the socialition of people (COSTA,2010). In Teresina-PI, the acoustic guittar is the most wanted instrument for young people when they want join a music school, free coursers, technical and/or college courses. His teaching was strengthened on the bases of social projects, wich in turn corroborates the significant demand for pratice of the University Federal of Piauí (UFPI). In face with this reality, what is the pre-university music education of young people who joined the instrumental pratice of acoustic guitar at UFPI? In this sence, the objective was to this to analyze the students´ profile of instrumental pratice of acoustic guitar at UFPI. The qualitative strategy that used it was the case study, conductec by questionnaires applied to youg people who entered in the University Federal of Piauí in the period of 2016.1 (without musical aptitude test) and 2017.1 (with musical aptitude test). In order to know the influence of the acoustic guitar on teaching in social projects in relation to the deman for the undergraduation musical course.
