Resumo

O presente texto apresenta um recorte de uma pesquisa que teve como tema o projeto de educação musical venezuelano, mundialmente conhecido como El Sistema. Nesta pesquisa, El Sistema foi investigado sob o ponto de vista motivacional. Dentre as diversas abordagens teóricas que explicam a motivação humana, nesta pesquisa utilizamos como base teórica as concepções de Albert Bandura, contidas em sua obra intitulada Teoria Social Cognitiva – TSC (1986). O objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi investigar se os procedimentos metodológicos de ensino, utilizados em El Sistema, apresentam características que potencializam a motivação dos alunos que participam do projeto a partir da perspectiva da teoria de Bandura. Aqui são apresentados os resultados referentes ao desenvolvimento das crenças de autoeficácia a partir de experiência vicária e o impacto destas na motivação dos alunos para a aprendizagem musical. A metodologia de pesquisa utilizada foi o estudo de caso. Os dados foram coletados a partir de análise de documentos e entrevistas semiestruturadas. Como resultado, foi possível verificar que os procedimentos utilizados pelos professores favorecem a aprendizagem musical por meio de experiência vicária, e que este pode ser um dos fatores que contribui com os êxitos artísticos e educacionais do projeto.

The role of vicarious experience in motivation for musical development: The case of El Sistema

This paper presents part of a research that had as its theme the Venezuelan musical education project known worldwide as El Sistema. In this research, El Sistema was investigated under the motivational point of view. Among the various theoretical approaches to explain human motivation in this research used as a theoretical basis the views of Albert Bandura, contained in his work entitled Social Cognitive Theory - SCT (1986). The objective of this research was to investigate if the methodological procedures of teaching used in El Sistema have features that enhance the motivation of the students participating in the project from the perspective of Bandura's theory. The results for the development of self-efficacy beliefs from vicarious experience and their impact on student motivation for learning music are presented here. The research methodology used was the case study. Data were collected from document analysis and semi-structured interviews. As a result it was possible to verify that the procedures used by teachers favor the musical learning through vicarious experience, and that this may be one of the factors contributing to the artistic and educational achievements of the project.
