Resumo

O artigo tem como objetivo analisar a canção El Derecho de Vivir En Paz, do cantor e compositor chileno Victor Jara, brutalmente assassinado pela ditadura militar imposta no Chile, após o 11 de setembro de 1973. Através dessa análise histórico-crítica, construir uma narrativa capaz de relacionar o tempo passado –a ditadura militar –com os acontecimentos do tempo presente – o estallido social de 2019 –, não como mera relação causa-efeito, mas pensando em sucessivas questões envolvendo a política, os movimentos sociais, reformas e revoluções na história do continente latino-americano.

Victor Jara and the Latin American Revolution: the Chilean engaged song between military dictatorship (1973) and estallido social (2019)

The article aims to analyze the song El Derecho de Vivir En Paz, by the Chilean singer and composer Victor Jara, brutally murdered by the military dictatorship imposed in Chile, after September 11, 1973. Through this historical-critical analysis, construct a narrative able to relate the past time –the military dictatorship – with the events of the present time –the social explosion of 2019 –, not as a mere cause-effect relationship, but thinking about successive issues involving politics, social movements, reforms and revolutions in history of the Latin American continent.
