Resumo

O poema sinfônico/bailado Uirapuru (1917) de Heitor Villa-Lobos foi transformado em filme por Sam Zebba em 1950. Com base no argumento e na partitura da peça, o diretor fez as filmagens na Amazônia brasileira com índios da tribo Urubu. Neste artigo é realizada uma análise comparativa que identifica dois tipos de relação entre música e cena, uma por sincronia entre movimento sonoro e visual e outra por associação dramático-narrativa. A análise demonstra como a narratividade está presente nesta obra de Villa-Lobos.

Uirapuru by Villa-Lobos e Sam Zebba: a comparative analysis between music and scene

The symphonic poem/ballet Uirapuru (1917) by Villa-Lobos was made into film by Sam Zebba in 1950. Based on the program and the score of the piece, the director filmed in the Brazilian Amazon with the indigenous tribe Urubu. In this paper, we realize a comparative analysis between music and scene that identifies two kinds of relation between the two domains, one synchrony between sounding and visual motion and other by dramatic-narrative association. The analysis reveals that narrativity is a present element in this work by Villa-Lobos.
