Resumo

O artigo trata do projeto de tradução e adaptação para o português da ópera Trouble in Tahiti, como possível processo criativo em conjunto, objetivando a importância do texto estar na língua nativa dos intérpretes para a construção do personagem e melhoria de sua performance, proporcionar melhor concepção de encenação e obter uma comunicação direta com o público. Demonstra quais os princípios de tradução utilizados no processo de manutenção e complementação da Dramaturgia Musical da obra, e as modificações necessárias no processo de ensaio até a montagem final.

The article discusses the translation and adaptation to Portuguese of the opera Trouble in Tahiti, as a joint creative process, emphasizing the importance of the text’s being in the native language of the interpreters for the construction of character and to improve their performance, provide for better stage direction and to achieve direct communication with the public. The article demonstrates the principles of translation used in the maintenance and completion of the musical dramaturgy of the work, and the necessary changes in the rehearsal process leading up to the final presentation.
