Resumo

O Pink Floyd é reconhecido como uma das bandas mais importantes da história do rock. Em 1977, o grupo lançou o álbum Animals, uma alusão à obra literária Revolução dos Bichos, escrita por George Orwell. Contrapondo a hipótese de que o rock teria um papel crítico, para o autor francês Alain de Finkielkraut e o americano Allan Bloom, o gênero musical seria, nada mais, nada menos, do que mais um produto comercial tão estimulante quanto as drogas. A partir de contextualização histórica, este artigo propõe reflexão e debate entre Pink Floyd, e os críticos da comunicação Finkielkraut e Bloom.

Rock and Roll: problem of Western culture or victory of thought?

PinkFloyd is recognized as one of the most important bands in rock history. In 1977, the group released the album Animals, an allusion to the literary work Animal Farm, written by George Orwell. Contrasting the hypothesis that rock would play a critical role, for the French author Alain de Finkielkraut and the American Allan Bloom, the musical genre would be nothing more, nothingless, than another commercial product as stimulating as drugs. From historical contextualization, this article proposes reflection and debate between Pink Floyd, and critics of the communication Finkielkraut and Bloom.
