Resumo

O objetivo desta resenha é apresentar ao leitor o terceiro volume da série intitulada Negritude Potiguar (OLIVEIRA JUNIOR, 2021). O livro traz aspectos da cultura e da música afro-ameríndia norte-rio-grandense que são importantes não apenas como elementos constitutivos de uma identidade singular do povo potiguar, como também se tornam mecanismos de atuação política, da luta e da resistência que têm na música o seu viés de atuação. Como metodologia foi utilizada a descrição analítica do contexto da obra, através das reminiscências de um fazer acadêmico vinculado a obra de Câmara Cascudo (1955), suas influências no fazer social e na construção da história oficial do povo potiguar. Como resultados, inferimos a necessidade da presença dos trabalhos que versam sobre as músicas afro-ameríndias não apenas nos espaços de pesquisa, como também nos espaços de aprendizagem musical nos seus mais diferentes níveis.

Review of the book Negritude Potiguar vol. III, cultura popular negra

The aim of this review is to introduce the reader to the third volume of the series entitled Negritude Potiguar (OLIVEIRA JUNIOR, 2021). The book brings aspects of Afro-Amerindian culture and music from Rio Grande do Norte that are important not only as constitutive elements of a unique identity of the Potiguar people, but also become mechanisms of political action, struggle and resistance that have in the music his acting bias. As a methodology, the analytical description of the context of the work was used, through the reminiscences of an academic work linked to the work of Câmara Cascudo (1955), its influences in the social work and in the construction of the official history of the Potiguar people. As a result, we infer the need for the presence of works that deal with Afro-Amerindian music not only in research spaces, but also in musical learning spaces at their most different levels.
