Learning and Transmission Processes of Popular Musicians in Natal – RN: Initial Findings

This proposal is a resource for my graduation work, there is no way to analyze the result of the learning process and knowledge transmission of professional and semiprofessional popular musicians of Natal. Therefore, propose to understand what are your involvement with music, its main contexts and learning processes, musical practices, how to “take music out of ear”, how family influences and how to recycle their repertoires. The theoretical foundation includes concepts on formal and informal learning, knowledge transmission (GREEN, 2012; LIBÂNEO, 1990; MARTINS and LIMA, 2010; SANTOS JÚNIOR, 2016) and is also supported by studies on teaching and learning of Popular Music (ARROYO, 2000; OAK, 2010; CORRÊA, 2008; GALVÃO and LACORTE, 2007; GREEN, 2016; SANTOS JÚNIOR, 2016). That research had a qualitative character and the method used was the study of multiple cases (OLIVEIRA, 2014; LAVILLE and DIONNE, 1999), involving three musicians. In the data collection phase, electronic questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used. Data were analyzed based on content analysis (OLIVEIRA, 2014). The results of the analyzes show that there are several spaces influenced in their training processes, and may address the influence of the family and their first contacts with music, the social context and the choice of the musical instrument, as proper forms of learning (formal and informal). in all its dimensions, the types of listening, such as musical practices or playing in bands or groups and repertoire recycling.
