Resumo

Este trabalho investiga brevemente a estética musical européia dos séculos XVI ao XVIII buscando identificar as estruturas expressivas da música vocal no período de modo a melhor compreender o embasamento para a reprodução nos instrumentos de um ideal discursivo do canto. Nosso referencial teórico principal consistiu em escritos estéticos, bem como em métodos teórico-práticos do século XVIII. Concluímos que a música instrumental de então vincula-se ao canto de uma maneira mais profunda do que se compreende informalmente, e que seu desenvolvimento intenso a partir do século XVII conecta-se diretamente às novas concepções vocais e instrumentais promovidas pela Camerata Fiorentina e seu stile rappresentativo.

The Ideal of Expression in European Music from 16th to 18th Centuries: Aesthetic Research on the Declamatory and Rhetorical Bases of Singing and their Ties to the Instrumental Music of the Period

This study briefly investigates the European musical aesthetics from 16th to 18th centuries seeking to identify the expressive structures of vocal music of the period in order to better understand the basis for reproduction in instruments of a discursive ideal of singing. Our main theoretical framework resided in aesthetic writings, as well as theoretical and practical methods of 18th century. We conclude that instrumental music of the period connects itself to singing in a deeper way than is informally understood, and its intense development starting in 17th century is directly connected to new vocal and instrumental conceptions promoted by the Camerata Fiorentina and its stile rappresentativo.
