The music teaching with Ukulele: various possibilities to be developed with adolescents and young people
This article presents the main results of the Pilot Project “Teaching Music with Ukulele”; it was applied to a group of adolescents and young people. It reflects on the diversified Ukulele contexts, and partly describes the profile and application of the Pilot Project. Its foundation is based on authors who deal with the teaching of music and Ukulele in different spaces, applied to adolescents and young people (LIMA, 2018; COSTA, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2013; GUERRA, AZEVEDO, PICCOLI, 2016; VIVAS, 2015, 2014; NASCIMENTO, 2015; COSTA, ALVARES, 2015; COSTA, ADEODATO, 2013). Its qualitative methodology is anchored in action research (SILVA, MENEZES, 2001; GIL, 2008; SEVERINO, 2007). Its results present theoretical and practical ways that can be organized in a Work Plan format of Music Education Workshop in Extension and/or an Optional Subject in the Music Degree Course, both linked to the Music Department at UFMA. Thus, various topics related to Ukulele are presented as possibilities of interaction with the CLATEC Musical Approach: history and nomenclature; main ukulelists; fingering, beats, progressive melodic and harmonic studies, chord shapes, repertoire, among others. Besides, further research on the study of Ukulele at higher levels and in different spaces are suggested, as well as the establishment of an Instrumental Group.
