Resumo

A pesquisa tem como objetivo discutir o conceito de arranjo coral no repertório brasileiro. Para tanto, discorremos sobre a relação do arranjo com a composição original e como as concepções mudam do âmbito erudito para o popular. Também analisamos o uso do termo popular, que sofreu ressignificações ao longo do período estudado (desde o início do séc. XX, quando das primeiras produções de arranjos corais). Consideramos ainda o arranjo como um produto híbrido, sendo o arranjador um intermediador de dois conjuntos culturais: a canção popular e as práticas corais.

The Concept of Choral Arrangement in Brazilian Repertoire

The research aims to discuss the concept of choral arrangement in Brazilian repertoire. Therefore, we discuss the relationship between the arrangement and the original compositionand how the conceptions change from the erudite scope to the popular one. We have also analyzed the use of the term“popular”, which underwent re-significances throughout the studied period (from the beginning of the 20th century, by the time when occurred the first productions of choral arrangements). The arrangement i s also considered as a hybrid product,the arranger being an intermediary of two cultural sets: the popular song and the choral practices.
