Resumo

O presente trabalho consiste na apresentação parcial dos dados de nossa pesquisa sobre a música da Saya afro-boliviana. Usando conceitos musicológicos de tradição africana e brasileira e ao mesmo tempo recorrendo ao relato histórico, propomos uma análise sobre os elementos binários da Saya. Os achados da pesquisa suportam a hipótese de que a Saya afro-boliviana tem elementos rítmicos tanto da tradição africana quanto da andina.

The binary and ternary in the music of the Afro-Bolivian Saya: historical and formal aspects

The present work consists the partial presentation of the data of our research about the music of the Afro-Bolivian Saya. Using musicological concepts of African and Brazilian tradition and at the same time resorting to the historical narration, we propose an analysis on the binary and ternary elements of Saya. The findings of the research support the hypothesis that the Afro-Bolivian Saya has rhythmic elements of both the African and Andean tradition.
