Music and Youth: the meanings of music in the life narratives of elementary school students
This paper deals with an ongoing research clipping that investigates the cooperation of music in the process of life narratives of students of the arts discipline in elementary school in a school in Caucaia, Ceará. According to Josso (2007) the life narratives perform a work of transformation of the subjects, which is indispensable for education. The author also states that the narratives of each allow the possibility of creating new resources and strategies based on individual and collective knowledge. For this moment the discussions revolved around the problem: what meanings do students attribute to music in relation to their life story? Our overall goal was to understand what meanings students attributed to music in narrating their life stories. For this we used the methodology from the assumptions of Lani-Bayle (2008), where the narratives occurred during art classes in the closing of the content related to 'Music and Daily Life'. Each student should choose a song and narrate their life story from it. Nineteen students from the 8th and 9th grades accepted to participate in the research. As results we can observe that the students attributed to the music the description of moments, emotions of lived moments, memories of relatives, behaviors and desires described in the songs, memories of lived experiences are good and / or bad.
