Resumo

A perspectiva simbólico-interacionista tem se destacado nos estudos sociais e nas humanidades como uma das principais formas de compreensão de ações e formas expressivas humanas. Nesta perspectiva, este texto reflete sobre dimensões simbólico-interativas na formação musical e as perspectivas em torno da ideia de “dom” de três cantadores repentistas do Estado do Ceará, tomando como base um estudo de caso sobre seus processos de transmissão musical. A partir de entrevistas realizadas com os três cantadores, as análises e interpretações são desenvolvidas em articulação com o referencial do interacionismo simbólico do sociólogo Erving Goffman, a fim de entender como os atos simbólicos produzem significados na construção do “artista profissional” durante os processos de transmissão. Os resultados apontam para a perspectiva de manifestação do dom a partir de uma base social. Assim, o ambiente social apresenta-se como fundamental para a formação do repentista, pois possibilita a absorção dos elementos estéticos, identitários e culturais da arte que compõem aquele cenário.

Symbolic-social interaction in the musical formation of cantoria nordestina

The symbolic-interactionist perspective has emerged prominently in social studies and the humanities as a primary approach to comprehending human actions and modes of expression. This text explores, from this viewpoint, the symbolic-interactive dimensions within musical development and the perspectives surrounding the concept of "gift" among three repentistas from the State of Ceará, Northeast Brazil. This exploration is grounded in a case study focused on their musical transmission processes. Repentistas are singers involved in a poetic and musical art form prevalent in Northeast Brazil, characterized by the improvisation of verses, known as cantoria repentista or simply cantoria. Drawing from interviews conducted with the three singers, the analysis and interpretations are intertwined with the sociologist Erving Goffman's framework of symbolic interactionism, aimed at comprehending how symbolic acts generate meanings in shaping the "professional artist" during the streaming processes. The findings suggest an angle that highlights the manifestation of the gift rooted in a social context. Thus, the social milieu emerges as crucial in shaping the repentista, facilitating the assimilation of aesthetic, identity, and cultural elements inherent to the art that constitutes that particular setting.
