Resumo

Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar os resultados de uma pesquisa que estudou o desenvolvimento musical em crianças de 12 a 18 meses. Por meio da pesquisa ação, observamos e analisamos o comportamento musical de dois bebês, Rayana e Lucas, entre 12 e 18 meses, alunos do pesquisador. Os resultados da pesquisa apontaram que as aquisições dos bebês são coerentes com teorias do desenvolvimento cognitivo de Piaget, bem como com teorias do desenvolvimento musical de Delalande e Swanwick, sendo a mudança de foco do gesto motor para o gesto sonoro uma das principais características do desenvolvimento musical desta idade. O estudo mostrou que o desenvolvimento dos bebês também é coerente com o pensamento de Vygotsky, já que o papel de professor-mediador foi fundamental nesse processo.

Musical Development in children between 12 and 18 months: A exploratory study

This work aims to presents the results of a researching that have studied the musical development in children between 12 and 18 months. Through action research, we observed and analyzed the musical behavior of two babies, Rayana and Lucas, between 12 and 18 months and who take music lessons with the researcher. The results showed that the musical acquisitions of the babies are coherent with Piaget’s theory and also with Delalande and Swanwick’s theories of musical development. The changing focus of the motor gesture to the sound gesture is one of the main features of musical development of this period. The study showed that babies' development is also consistent with Vygotsky's thinking, since the teacher-mediator‘s role was relevant in this process.
