Resumo

Esse artigo pretende refletir sobre a relação entre texto e música a partir da compressão das práticas musicais e literárias que guiavam a criação artística desde a Grécia antiga, até as transformações ocorridas na Itália nos séculos XVII e XVIII. O ponto de partida do artigo é a Tragédia grega de Eurípedes e sua influência no panorama cultural da Itália nos séculos XVII e XVIII, e o papel da retórica clássica e da teoria dos afetos nesse período. Em seguida o artigo abre uma possibilidade de análise das cantatas de Alessandro Scarlatti (1660 – 1725) propondo uma agenda de pesquisa transdisciplinar que integre elementos da análise literária com análise musical.

From Ancient Greece to Alessandro Scarlatti: How Academia Arcadia Reacts against Baroque Based on Greek Ideals

The article discusses the relation between rethoric and music based on the comprehension of the musical and literary practices of the baroque era. The starting point of the paper is the Greek tragedy and his musical practices and his influence on cultural context of Italy in the XVII and XVIII centuries. After, we think about the role of classical rhetoric and the doctrine of affections in this period. From this theoretical outline it follows an analysis of the relation of Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725) and Academia Arcadia in order to show the relation between the practices of baroque and the new practices from that Academy. The article concludes by pointing out the need to undertake interdisciplinary studies that integrate the literary and music analysis in order to bring to fore the complexity of the vocal music in this period.
