Resumo

Pretendemos demonstrar a hipótese de uma direcionalidade implícita nas alturas estruturais do Sujeito Kyrie eleison do Kyrie (1963) de Ligeti. Essa hipótese é sugerida por uma cadeia de terças que rege tal linha e é confirmada a partir da representação gráfica (Tonnetz) da teoria neo-riemanniana. Com isso, verificaremos como essa linha estrutural surge a partir da mudança gradual de um mesmo conjunto 3-3 que aparece em diferentes versões, inversas e/ou transpostas entre si.

Chain of Thirds and Its Direcionality on a Subject of the Kyrie (1963) by György Ligeti

We intend to demonstrate the possibility of an implied directionality on structural pitches of the Subject Kyrie eleison of the Kyrie (1963) by Ligeti. This hypothesis is suggested by a chain of thirds, which governs such line. It is confirmed by the graphical representation (Tonnetz) of neo-Riemannian theory. With that, we will see how this structural line arises through the gradual change of a set 3-3 that appears in different inversed and/or transposed versions.
