Resumo

Este artigo reúne alguns apontamentos sobre a presença dos italianos na música em São Paulo. Reverenciados como financiadores dos Cordões carnavalescos, este trabalho pretende demonstrar, através da presença dos regionais de choro na gênese dos Cordões paulistanos; das serenatas; do carnaval dos imigrantes pobres e da convivência, nem sempre pacífica entre negros e imigrantes italianos nos bairros menos favorecidos da capital, que há muito mais presença italiana do que a meramente financeira na formação sonoridade paulistana.

Batat’assat’ô Fornu: Italian Presence in São Paulo’s sonority

This article brings some notes about the contribution of the Italians in the São Paulo's music. Well known as sponsors of the early carnival from São Paulo, this paper aims to show through the presence of the instruments from Choro in the genesis of the “Cordões” from São Paulo - played mostly by Italians and their descendants; through the small carnival made by poor immigrants; through their serenades and through the coexistence, not always peaceful, between African descendants and Italian immigrants in the poorest neighborhoods of the capital, that there is much more Italian influence than the merely financial aid in the formation of the city sonority.
